Dave's an event planner currently working for DC's Whitman-Walker
Clinic. He produced the 2005 Washington DC AIDS Walk and is now focussed on planning
the 2006 Capital Pride parade and festival. He has worked for The Victory Fund,
PFLAG, Out of the Darkness (a suicide prevention fundraiser), and the Washington,
DC AIDS Ride. I met Dave when I joined AGLA in 1998. He was the president and
recruited me to redesign www.agla.org. Dave
doesn't like me to say that he taught me how to be an activist, but he at least
pushed me in the right direction. All of the volunteer work I do these days is
a direct result of meeting Dave through AGLA. |
| Likes: |
Computers (pays the bills) my cats (they're my kids), science
fiction, Star Trek, Anne McCaffrey, Robert Heinlein, Democratic politics. I like
going out, but I'm just as happy staying home cooking dinner and watching a DVD.
I belong to many gay and lesbian rights groups, but I'm most active with Virginia
Partisans and the Arlington Gay and Lesbian
Alliance. (I designed and maintain both of those web sites. The AGLA site
is one of my best ever designs.) |
| Collectibles: |
Shot glasses of all shapes and sizes, the tackier the better! I currently have 200+ and the collection continues to grow. (most are in storage) |

| Work: |
I'm a professional web developer. For the last eight years or
so, I've been a contractor. I currently manage the web site for the Federal Highway
Administration's Office of Environment,
Planning, and Realty. I'd prefer doing the same job for the Human Rights Campaign,
NGLTF, or PFLAG. Unfortunately, non-profits can't afford the rates I've grown
used to. So like many gay couples in the DC Metro area, Dave works for the non-profits
and I work the less satisfying but higher paying job. It all evens out, because
what I learn at work helps me do better volunteer web design as an activist. |
| My Kids: |
Only the four-foot feline variety. Heinlein is my eight year old
blue and white bicolor moggy. 'Caffrey is my eight year old warm brown classic
tabby. Harper was my Snow Bengal mix. He moved to a friend of mine's when I moved
in with Dave. Click an image for a larger view. These pictures are from July 4,
1999. (Heinlein's 2nd birthday.) I also have two evil step daughters, Urvishi
and Nereide. Don't have pictures of them here yet since they aren't nice to Heinlein
and 'Caffrey. The girls are Harper's littermates, but he was the pretty one. |
