Crescent Bakes

This isn't as much a recipe as a guideline. I've made this for parties many different ways. I had the orignal idea from other parties and galas I've attended where I've enjoyed stuffed pastries of many kinds and tried, with success, to make an easy version at home. I've found that I can use just about anything for the filling, with or without cream cheese. If using cream cheese, the herb flavored is ideal.

Ingredients:

  • crescent rolls
  • Your imagination

Preparation:

  1. Open crescent rolls, separate. One tube yields 8 pieces. For smaller, bite sized portions, divide each piece for 16 bakes per tube of crescent rolls.
  2. Spread each piece out into a rough square.
  3. Add about 2 tablespoons of filling to center. (1 tablespoon for smaller version)
  4. Fold edges over filling and seal.
  5. Bake at 425 for about 20 minutes or until starting to brown.

Fillings:

  • Diced chicken with spices, veggies optional
  • Marinated diced vegetables
  • Sliced salmon and cream cheese
  • Ground beef with spices, onion or other veggies optional
  • Ground beef or diced chicken with cream cheese
  • Chopped shrimp
  • Chopped mushrooms (I like Portabello)
  • Spinach and cheese
  • Or whatever you think of... this really is very adapable to personal taste.
